We Remember and Honor Those Who Serve

While we strive to negotiate our differences in politics, new legislation, religion, and other ideologies that may not necessarily be our own, we must remember those who have served and paid the ultimate price for our freedom.

I apologize if those words sound cliché. We do hear that call to remember and honor those who have served from multiple sources, especially on this one day of the year — Memorial Day. But, in a most humble and authentic spirit, we do mean what we say. 

As a nation, we continue to navigate tough times as many continue to rebound from the effects of COVID-19. Fuel prices, groceries, and the cost of education continue to be a challenge for both blue and white-collar workers. Our nation remains very divided with regard to how we move forward as leaders of democracy in the free world. If that’s not enough to bear, there is the war in Ukraine, the threat of international violence, and especially the challenge all of us have at the local level — right here in our backyard.

Amidst all of this chaos of the 2024 Barnsdall tornado, the tornado of Claremore, or havoc in tornado-devasted Pryor, Oklahoma, we remain strong. Oklahoma communities and the people who populate our landscape are filled with caring people who give to support those in need. And for those who have served or are currently in service, we at The Nichols Group, Pamela Nichols REALTOR®, salute you and the work that you do to uphold peace in our nation.

As we gather for burgers and brats on this fine Memorial Day 2024, let us remember those who paid the ultimate price for our freedom. Let us remember and pray for those who currently serve in the armed forces. And may we also take on the spirit of service toward others. For you, it could be helping a neighbor who needs assistance as they walk through a financial burden or supporting those who have become terminally ill. Perhaps a recent storm has brought devastation to their front door.
